Dazzling. Easily the best Groth Cabernet in many years, dry, full-bodied and crazily rich in blackberries, cherries, tobacco and new oak. The ripe, sweet fruit is held in check by brisk acidity and fi rm tannins, resulting in an exciting tension. Beautiful now, and should develop gracefully throughout the decade. (2/ 2012)
This is a very clean and fruity Cab with firm tannins and bright acidity with dark fruits and minerals. Full and firm. Give this another five years of bottle to really mellow, but why wait? (6/ 2012)
Mostly Cab, with 12% Merlot from the winery's vineyards in the Oakville AVA. This was aged in 65% new, small French oak barrels for 22 months, imparting heady vanilla overtones and lots of cinnamon and nutmeg spice to match the jammy fruit. This is a soft, easy-drinking Cab that Dennis Groth suggests for when you want a "slab and a Cab." Porterhouse anyone?
