This is a fantastic way to get some familiarity with the Round Pond wines. This wine is predominately Estate fruit with small additions of purchased fruit. The wine doesn't see any new wood, instead using second- and third-year barrels. The wine is pure black and red fruits with great depth and freshness. Hints of cinnamon, chocolate, rhubarb and tobacco wrapped nicely with lush tannins. This is a wine to drink in the next 1-2 years. As I said to Mr. MacDonnell, I have tasted wines at twice the price that didn't have the beauty that this wine does. (Mike Jordan, K&L Wines) 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot.
