2008 Yalumba "FDR1A" Cabernet-Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Super ripe, super oaky and super concentrated, this wine shows depth and power, rich black fruits, mocha and a completely unevolved personality; the inherent power is undeniable, and on a cold night with a braised dish, may be the perfect tonic.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Shiraz, the 2008 FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz displays a deep garnet-purple color and is very fruit-forward with intense black cherry and warm blackberry aromas plus whiffs of dried Mediterranean herbs and mint. Medium-bodied, crisp and taut on the palate, it gives firm grainy tannins, just enough flesh and a long finish. Drinking now, it should remain fresh to 2016+.
Supple, with a green olive note weaving through the sturdy blackberry and tar flavors. Persists nicely on the solid finish against a mild grip of tannin. Drink now through 2019. 150 cases imported." (Web-2011)
