91 points Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Complex bouquet evokes spicy cherry, cassis, rhubarb and fresh rose. Firm and broad-shouldered, with deep red and dark berry flavors supported by smoky minerality. Gains sweetness on the impressively precise, long finish. Serious stuff, and built to age." (July/August ’07) What a wild and intriguing nose: cocoa bean, peanuts, and a bright grapey quality are what immediately stands out. On the palate, this Mediterranean wine shows some very expressive red fruit, intense and extracted but also very fresh and individual. Dried cherries, warm earth, and pomegranate flavors combine for one very unique wine, that would best be served with some heartier fare: paella could work, though I would opt for some roasted vegetables and merguez (lamb) sausages.
