This is an intense, nervy Chardonnay, rich in acids and minerals that offer a tang to the palate. It's also dazzlingly rich, with complex flavors of pineapples, honeysuckle and buttered toast. Shows extraordinary concentration throughout the long, spicy finish. (10/ 2010)
Bright yellow-straw. Pungent lime zest, green tropical fruits, pineapple and snap pea on the nose. Densely packed, tight and minerally, with terrific definition and a tactile quality reminiscent of peach nectar. Very concentrated, vibrant wine with a long, lightly saline finish. From vines planted at an altitude of 1,800 feet. (6/ 2010)
Every bit as good is the 2008 Chardonnay Broken Road. Abundant gravelly/mineral-like notes intermixed with tropical fruit, oranges, and other stone fruits as well as quince and mango emerge from this elegant, crisp offering. It may be slightly less full-bodied than the Red Point, but that’s splitting hairs at this level of quality. (2/ 2011)
