91 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: "Complex nose that jumps from the glass; layered, sweetly fruited, good volume and length." (Dec 2010) This is a big wine, but not a monster. Yields are a reasonable 2.7 tons per acre. Seasoned Italian consultant Alberto Antonini continues to make sure that this wine is as well made and as much of a crowd pleaser as it usually is. Boldly structured, the wine shows an opaque, purple-black color, with deeply pitched, spicy dark fruit and cocoa aromas. It is extracted on the palate, chock full of blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors, with some baking spices intermingling as well. A modern style to be sure, but still showing good balance, this wine is an incredible bargain for those who like bigger, richer, fruitier wines.
