This I thought was truly terrific Chablis, with very, very pretty fruit and wonderful concentration on the palate. Absolutely singing at this juncture. Notes of honey combine beautifully with the minerality here. Has that characteristic of the acidity that makes you r mouth water, quite literally. As Jean-Claude told me: "This terroir typically has lots of freshness and tension, from the limestone rocks in the soil here." " (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 03/11) Allen Meadows calls this "Outstanding", scores it 91, and writes:"This is a bit fresher and brighter with a very citrusy nose that offers more obvious Chablis character that continues onto the delicious, intense and more mineral-driven flavors that display excellent depth and length. A fine example that is worth a look." (Burghound, 10/10) And says"A light touch of wood allows the fresh and bright aromas of citrus and white peach to shine and nor does it detract from the delicious, intense and attractively mineral-driven flavors that display excellent depth and length. - The region north of the Cote d'Or, famous for its steely dry white wines made from Chardonnay. There are 7 Grands Crus vineyards, and numerous Premier Crus. Unfortunately, the name has been borrowed and badly abused by producers of inferior white wines in the US as well as in Australia. True French Chablis is a delicate, stony, crisp Chardonnay, bearing no resemblance to the anonymous plonk so labeled here.
