*Cellar Selection* The last time this special Riserva was produced was in 1999. Only produced in excellent vintages, the 2004 expression shows amazing concentration, balance, complexity, depth and personality. Aromas include black cherry, cola, light smoke, graphite and moist tobacco. The mouthfeel is deep, penetrating and long lasting with tight but polished tannins. Drink after 2015. (10/ 2010)
Blackberry and blueberry aromas are focused and ultraclean. Full-bodied, with a deep core of pretty fruit and polished tannins that go on and on. Closed and tight right now, but will open into something very special indeed. Best after 2011. (6/ 2010)
Medium-deep red. Ripe aromas of red cherry, smoky plum, minerals and coffee. Rich and luscious, but with noteworthy precision and lift to the red cherry and plum flavors. Finishes with smooth tannins and excellent length. A less generous and more tannic and herbal version than some previous vintages of Poggio all'Oro but very impressive as always. (7/ 2010)
Finely crafted, this wine balances fresh, plummy fruit with scents of leather and tar. Oak influences the flavors and smoothes the texture to an easy richness. A pleasure to drink with roast lamb. (4/ 2012)
