According to the Wine Enthusiast: "A firm style of wine, from the oldest Port producer. With tannins and bitter almond and chocolate flavors, this is certainly on the drier side." (8/1/2006) Sweet, woody, spicy fruitcake and cinnamon reveal themselves on the nose. On the palate, the flavors are wonderfully balanced, no surprise given that the average age of the wine here is actually 15 years and not 10. Since there is no category for 15 year tawnies, Kopke simply chooses to label it as a 10 year tawny. This is just as tasty and elegant a 10 year tawny as one would expect out of this traditional house specializing in this style.
