The "appellation" Pouilly Fumé is on the right bank of the Loire, in the department of the Nièvre. Its territory consists of a solid promontory which forces the river (the Loire) to change its course in a North-easterly direction. The appellation Pouilly Fumé covers 1200 hectares. The vineyard of the Tabordet winery is planted in the commune of Saint-Laurent l'Abbaye which Kimmeridgian calcareous marl soil. Excellent alone as apéritif or with seafood, and with a few years of age may well accompany foie gras.
