The Oak Knoll District is the latest appellation added to the Napa Valley. It is located just north of the city of Napa and is second only to the Carneros AVA as Napa's coolest region. It has fine, gravely, loam soil. The area is best known for Chardonnay and the Bordeaux varieties. With the limited numbers of producers in the Oak Knoll District one doesn’t have to go far to realize this rich, oaky, chardonnay is from one of the best. The rich mouth on this bears witness to the very reason that the Oak Knoll District has its very own appellation. Perhaps with a beurre blanc over grilled salmon or a seafood fettuccine?
