Bobal is something of an obscure grape, indigenous to Utiel Requeña near Spain's Mediterranean coast. It is high in both acid and tannins, as this rustic charmer will certainly attest. Tangy red fruits have an edgy, earthy quality, and would beautifully complement pork, chicken, or perhaps a typical rabbit paella which is a specialty of the region. For the price, there is a lot of character in this wine.
