93 points Robert Parker: An under-the-radar estate with top-notch wines made by skilled winemaking consultant Karen Culler, Wolf Family’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Phaedrus is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. There are 525 cases of this excellent bargain. It offers a deep plum/purple hue as well as a fragrant bouquet of unsmoked cigar tobacco, sweet cherries, black currants and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, round, generous and silky textured, it should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10-12 years. From Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice pastille. Juicy and a bit grapey, with moderate depth but plenty of early appeal to the flavors of cassis, blackberry, violet and mint. Finishes with building tannins, good length and a lingering minty nuance." (May/Jun '10)
