Yet another amazing barrel from our friends the Morrisons at A.D. Rattray. For all the fans of the legendary cask strength sherry finished Aberlour A'Bunadh, of which we sell about a case a week, this is an older and more expressive version of what a full-throttle cask strength bourbon finished Aberlour can offer you: a nose full of malted cereal and grains, vanilla, and heather, followed by sweet barley flavors on the palate. The color is light and the elements are balanced, but at cask strength, this is not your everyday Highland softy. The character of the whisky is interesting and beckons futher tastings, which is really all one can really ask of their dram. I mean seriously, a single malt at 18 years old, unchillfiltered, no dillution, and from one of Scotland's most prestigious distilleries, for way under $100.
