This bottle rocks! Citrus, peppery Gruner. This is a great aperitif and is a workhorse at the dinner table. You should always have a couple of these bottles around the house.

Simply every refrigerator in America needs to have at least one bottle of this delicious wine chilling at all times! Drink with salads, grilled chicken, fish or simply by itself. Clean, crisp and slightly peppery. Buy one today and you will see what these Austrians have to be proud about.

So many people have chimed in on this wine, what an insane value it is for the sheer delicousness, there's not much left to say. So I'll throw my two cents in thus; drink this out of a tumbler. This is not a wine to be swirled in the glass and delicately nosed. This is made to be thrown back in large gulps or at least with a vigorous sip as you prep dinner or wash down some light finger foods. And don't be surprised if you pound the whole liter. I mean, you know, it happens. CM

Lively, clean and brisk, with characteristic white pepper, ginger and honeydew flavors, this generous liter-sized GV made a terrific quaffer after a long hike over the Dipsea trail to a friend's beach house in Marin. Its bright acidity and sheer quenchability worked well with the spicy twice-cooked pork and Chinese cabbage we attacked for lunch. This is a highly versatile, crowd-pleasing wine at a price hard to believe.

So this, as you may know, is not only my favorite Gruners, but also one of my absolute favorite white wines in general. The previous vintage was known for being ever present on my picnics. Yesterday I took it a step further and enjoyed it on the golf course. This wine is perfect for all occasions that can be made that much better by a simple, perfect, lively and affordable wine (in a 1 liter bottle with a screw cap).

The new vintage of our best selling 1L bottle of Gruner has just arrived and it is as fantastic as always. Melon, grapefruit and white pepper fill the middle of this refreshing wine. Although dry, cool and clean there seems to be just a touch of trapped CO2 that keeps this lively and thirst quenching.

A wonderfully pleasant summer sipper for those very warm and thirsty days. Full of crisp citrus, herbs, fresh summer grass, Meyer lemon, and racy acidity, there is nothing that can refresh you palate more! And a Liter for only $11.99 is a steal! Great for party's too, this is a real crowd pleaser, but don't feel bad if you finish the bottle yourself over a summer day by the pool. It's low alcohol won't give you a headache the next day.

This was amazing with my show dogs fried chicken sandwich and afterwards with..... nothing. Groovy Groovy Groovy! Only problem is it goes down too easy. 90

Additional Information:

Varietal:

Gruner Veltliner

- Grüner Veltliner is the most widely planted grape variety in Austria, making up about a third of all the vineyard land in the country, according to importer extraordinaire Terry Thiese. The varietal has definitely increased in popularity of the past few years, as sommeliers and wine directors loaded their lists with this spicy white because it pairs well with so many things. Its bouquet has been described as floral, tending to toward musky, with hints of peppery greens, lentils, citrus and red fruit with a distinctive mineral quality. In the mouth the wine can be broad or precise, but is almost always distinguished by bracing acidity and flavors that mirror the nose. A notoriously good ager, you can drink GrüVes in their youth, or let them evolve in complexity in your cellar.
Country:

Austria

- Austria is a well-respected wine-growing region in Europe. Yet, even though they make about a third the volume of wine as Germany, not many of these fine bottles make it to the shelves of American wine merchants or restaurants. Lucky for us, their anonymity has translated into incredible value from simple, everyday whites to exquisite dessert wines. Austria shares many grape varieties with Germany—Riesling is king here, too. But the style of Austrian whites is much dryer and more potent. Grüner Veltliner is Austria's second-most-important varietal and makes whites of great versatility and pleasure. Click for a list of bestselling items from Austria.
