2009 Curran Santa Ynez Valley Grenache Blanc

SKU #1059061

A beautiful, lush wine with bright orange creamsicle aromas and a light effervescence on the palate from the head winemaker at Sea Smoke, Kris Curran. Curran started this label on her own in 1997 and is now producing Syrah, Sangiovese and this delicious Grenache Blanc. The grapes are sourced from the Camp 4 Vineyard in the eastern Santa Ynez Valley. The wine experienced no malolactic fermentation, allowing the rich, ripe fruit to shine through. You'll love its long, lingering finish and crisp acidity, the kind that will have you reaching easily for another glass.

As a *big* fan of Grenache Blanc, this was a disappointment. The residual sugar combined with a lack of varietal nose made me question my investment. For real Grenache Blanc, buy tablas creek.

The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.
