90-93 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and powerful, with loads of ripe fruit that seems a little high in alcohol, but remains fresh and lively. Velvety tannins." (Web only, 2010) 90-92 points Robert Parker: "The 2009 La Gargone, which was cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare, and is a blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, is a real blockbuster style of wine with remarkably high alcohol at 15.8%. Of course, to some people that means the wine is going to taste hot, but this one doesn’t, and neither do any others in 2009, given the extraordinary concentration of fruit and the freshness the wines possess. This is probably the highest level of alcohol I tasted in any wine. Dense purple in color, dominated by its black fruits, smoky oak, and crisp, mineral notes, this outstanding wine is rich, long and impressive. It should age nicely for 7-8 years." (04/10) K&L's Notes: *V Blackberries abound. Powerful wine, with tons of chocolate and cedar flavors. 20% Malbec here. The wine is fantastic, if a bit new wave. Note: Futures item. Wine will arrive late 2011 to 2013. You will be contacted for delivery instructions.
