Redcurrants, blackcurrants and raspberries present as the perfect fruity threesome in this mouthfilling Beaujolais Villages, from a producer who is not exactly obscure. This is just the sort of warm weather red than benefits from 20 minutes in the fridge and pretty much any sort of food you can throw at it, especially sliced meats and cheeses, or grilled hot sausages. From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Duboeuf’s largest single cuvee – their 2009 Beaujolais-Villages, assembled from six different villages and 15 lots from different growers, and destined for the U.S. – is brimming with ripe blackberry and cassis; mouth-filling and plush; and retaining an attractive primary juiciness and hint of berry skin tartness that serves for some invigoration as well as contrast to the wine’s sense of sweetness in the finish...an excellent value that far surpasses the quality of the corresponding 2008. " (08/10) Gerald Boyd, of Wine Review Online, gives this 90 points, writing: "This delightful wine offers loads of forward ripe berry aromatics and fl avors, supported by soft but fi rm tannins and good acidity. Beaujolais-Villages can be a little thin and vapid sometimes, but not this one. It’s juicy and grapey and the price is right." (5/18/10)
