The Amalfi Coast is well known for its spectacular beauty. But not so much for its local wines. That should change, and it will, if this extremely quality conscious estate has anything to say about it! San Francesco’s vineyards extend over seven hectares situated along steep-sloped terraced lands, rising 300-500 meters above sea level and characterized by high density plantings of indigenous grape varietals. Of the seven hectares, four are planted with 100-year-old vines of tintore and piedirosso, along with additional plantings of aglianico. This spicy red is great with pasta and pizza, and can be chilled down and served with lustier seafood preparations like tuna or swordfish.

Scores in these publications often represent the personal taste of an individual critic, which may not always coincide with your own.
