2004 Casita Mami Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon-Graciano Navarra

SKU #1058142

Navarra, nestled in the northern part of Spain east of Rioja and west of Aragon, is one of the country’s most prized agricultural regions, producing some of it’s finest vegetables and fruits, including the vine. Here, along with grapes such as garnacha and tempranillo, there is a long standing history of growing classic Bordeaux varietals such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon. These two grapes combine with graciano in this particular bottling to create one delicious everyday drinking wine. Possessing a wealth of distinctive microclimates, soils and exposures on their 220 hectares, Casita Mami only uses their own beautiful grapes which helps to define this wonderful bottle of wine, full of rich, smoky cherry fruit and buffered by a pretty freshness. These vineyards are where Mediterranean and Atlantic climates co-exist, which one notes when tasting this generous and full-bodied, yet not at all over the top wine. Six months of aging in Allier oak adds some additional complexity and texture to the cuvee. A great deal for anyone looking for a top value Bordeaux style blend from a bit further afield.

This Spanish wine puts a twist on a classic Bordeaux blend. Well integrated, but not over the top fruit is well balanced by subtle earth tones and spice. This wine offers a structure and mouth feel that far outstrips its modest price tag, and gives Bordeaux fans a chance to do a little exploring. Perfect for a weekday dinner with friends. Very Drinkable now.

Wow. A great Bordeaux blend that that has soften up enough that the sweetness of the fruit is truly integrated to the wine. Very well balance. A Spanish wine for Bordeaux drinkers at a great price!
Drink from 2010 to 2012
