Rounded, ripe and inviting, with freshly crushed plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit woven with toasty spice and framed by a lingering cocoa edge on the finish. Merlot. Best from 2013 through 2020. (3/ 2012)
(100% merlot) Ruby-red. Pure, refined merlot aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and flowers. Easygoing and fruit-driven, with plenty of personality to its dark berry, violet and coffee flavors. Not hugely complex but bright acidity extends the zippy finish. From 30-year-old vines grown in the area of Saint-Etienne de Lisse, on cold clay-rich soils. The warm, clement fall enabled Denis Durantou (also owner of L'Eglise-Clinet) to delay the harvest of these grapes until the second week of October. (6/ 2010)
