I our May 2010 Burgundy tasting, we tasting a lot of gret 2008 Chablis - there were stars and circles all over my stating sheet! The "Vieilles Vignes" from Gerard Tremblay was one of the standouts, in terms of the overall quality-to-price ratio. It is classic Chablis, with a nose of lees, minerals, and lanolin; the palate, though round and broad in flavor, is still quite chiseled and marked by high acidity. The finish is long and mineral-driven. Every cellar needs at least a case of this wine, for now and later.

The most unbelievable Chablis under $20 this season! The fruit comes from 45+ year old vines and shows impeccable purity and classic Chablis character. This wine is superb for anyone looking for something a bit more unique and special than the average joe! On the nose fresh and bright with lots of minerals, wet stone, and honeysuckle. On the palate it you get this amazing texture and seamless mouth feel that makes you wonder if your even drinking Chardonnay! Its like drinking something with the crispness of Sancerre and the body of Chardonnay, you get this amazing Chablis! Don't miss out on this prize, get it while it lasts!

The 2008 vintage in Chablis is going to be legendary, and I can't think of a more compelling category in the entire store to focus my personal buying on... Even our great grower Champagnes can wait. The Gerard Tremblay Chablis Vieilles Vignes has both body and acidity, as well as a very intriguing combination of sassafras exoticism and mineral strictness. This is powerful village wine, and would be very easily confused for premier cru. Who says Burgundy is too expensive? This is too cheap... Back up the truck because this will be a great summer sipper and will also age fantastically- but you have to have bottles left in order to taste it old!

- It's hard to believe that up until about 30 years ago, this extremely popular varietal hid behind the veil of geographical names like Chablis and Puligny-Montrachet. Now grown all over the world and bottled by its varietal name, Chardonnay has achieved a level of branding unlike any other wine. Unfortunately, the name has been borrowed and badly abused by producers of inferior white wines in the US as well as in Australia. True French Chablis is a delicate, stony, crisp Chardonnay, bearing no resemblance to the anonymous plonk so labeled here.
