Barrel sample. Rich but beautifully elegant that guards great freshness on top of the Merlot richness. The tannins are structured but well integrated. There is a high spice character to finish.

Intense blueberry and blackberry aromas here. Full body, chewy and very rich, with a lovely balance of ripe tannins and spicy finish, with character of nutmeg and cloves. Best ever from here. Try it after 2018.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Tronquoy Lalande, a blend of 51% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot, is the finest wine they have yet produced. It reveals an opulent bouquet of mulberries, blueberries, raspberries and spring flowers, full body, silky tannin, low acidity and a lush, pure mouthfeel. This uncharacteristically round, generous, sumptuous wine should be drinkable early on.

(a blend of 51% merlot, 42% cabernet sauvignon and 7% petit verdot) Deep ruby-purple. Very refined, classic Bordeaux aromas of violet, cedar and graphite; the petit verdot and cabernet sauvignon really dominate the merlot. Sweet, ripe red berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features slightly dry, mouthcoating tannins and nice cedary persistence. A very successful wine that calls for a few years of cellaring and should drink well until 2025.

This is smoky and fleshy, with solid plum, baked fig and dark cherry preserves flavors, followed by hints of cedar and roasted tobacco that should emerge more with modest cellaring. Drink now through 2019.
