Purple ruby. Strikingly pure aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, violet, ink, vanilla and white chocolate on the captivating, aromatic nose. Very fresh and clean on entry, then rich and suave in the middle, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of strawberry, blackcurrant, vanilla and white pepper. This has a much creamier, softer mouthfeel than the more penetrating, minerally 2010. Finishes long and clean, with persistent inky and sexy floral notes. Very well balanced and focused, this is a great effort from du Tertre and strikes me as potentially one of the estate's 5 or 6 wines of the last 40 years.

A wine that continues the impressive rise of du Tertre. It is becoming one of the sure values of Margaux, and this 2009 is both ripe and finely balanced. The acidity boosts the rich fruits, sweet tannins and the warm finish.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A seductive, opulent, textured Margaux with notes of licorice, black fruits, asphalt, pen ink and truffle, this is one of the finest du Tertres ever made. It has a hedonistic quality to it, but at the same time, there is great class, precision and freshness to this full-bodied, concentrated, but very supple-textured wine. Drink it over the next 20+ years.

Quite perfumy at first, with lilac, damson plum and singed bay leaf notes up front, followed by darker yet still caressing steeped black cherry, worn leather and espresso notes on the back end. Best from 2013 through 2023. 12,500 cases made.
