According to Robert Parker: "Abundant, moderately intense aromas of toasty new oak intermingled with scents of plum liqueur, licorice, and Provencal herbs are followed by a muscular, ripe wine with a distinctive cherry jam-like flavor profile. This solidly made, lightly tannic effort should be at its finest between 2001-2008." (04/2000) According to The Wine Spectator: "Subtle and polished red. Plenty of violet and berry character. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a medium finish. Best after 2000." (01/2000) Stephen Tanzer: "Good ruby color. Expressive, oaky aromas of raspberry and sweet butter. Ripe and fresh in the mouth, but the fruit is currently shortened by chewy tannins." (May/Jun 1998)
