According to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 PETIT CASTEL is a charming little wine—as always. Whatever it lacks in structure—and its structure is pretty good for a second wine—it always makes up for in pure charm. Early in the development of the Petit Castel vs. the Grand Vin, there often isn’t a lot to choose from, and there is some money to be saved. As time goes on, the two do separate themselves. Tightly wound at the moment, the Petit Castel is rather sharp and piercing this year, requiring extra time to come around. There are touches of herbal nuances and cassis on the finish. The depth is modest, and the wine should come around quickly despite its very tight demeanor in early 2009. As it aired out, the mid-palate seemed to thin fairly quickly. It drank nicely the next day, though, with light tannins providing intensity and herbal notes on the finish. If it did not have a lot of depth, it had a lot of character. Drink now-2014." (08/09)
