93 points from the Wine Enthusiast: "A big boy with black fruit, cedar, tobacco and chocolate cake aromas. All early signs say this one is here for the long haul; it is aggressive but serious, with fine acids and tannins hoisting deep black plum and berry flavors. Chocolate, mocha and pepper work the long finish. Best in 2010." (11/09) 92 points from the Wine Spectator: "Offers gorgeous, dark, exotic layers of fig sauce, melted licorice snap, crushed blackberry and bittersweet chocolate flavors, all laid seamlessly over supervelvety tannins. The long finish lets it all hang out. Drink now through 2011. 500 cases imported." (10/09) And, according to Robert Parker: "Pascual Toso’s 2007 Malbec Alta Reserva spent 12 months in mostly American oak. It is a glass-coating opaque purple color with a nose of cedar, cinnamon, incense, black cherry, and plum. Layered on the palate with excellent density, this medium-bodied Malbec has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and a lengthy, pure finish. Drink it from 2011 to 2019." (08/09)
