Smokey almonds (like Blue Diamond!) kick you in the face on the nose. This is cask strength Bowmore at the rarely seen age of 17 years and it couldn't be more incredible. The peat levels are present but in check and the nutty flavors on the palate blend in with the campfire notes perfectly along with richer barrel spices. This is maybe the most satisfying expression of Bowmore I have yet tasted because nothing is filtered or dilluted. Always known for its elegance rather than its power, this Rattray bottling of the Islay legend shows the full potential of what this whisky can be.
