The Louis Guntrum vineyard was established in 1648 in Nierstein/Rhein. The estate is currently managed by Louis Konstantin Guntrum, the 11th generation of the family. Though most eiswein encountered in Germany is made with Riesling, Silvaner is quite traditional for Rheinhessen. Originating from Roman ages, it can produce the very finest, top quality grapes. Picking between 4am and 7am at temperatures below 15°F ensures the most concentrated juice imaginable. So young, at 30 years of age. And so delicious, too.
