It is a generous, medium-bodied Gavi made in a richly-textured, yet crisp style. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010." (08/08) Gavi, for me, has always been a delicate, clean, refreshing wine to go with grilled calamari brightened by a squeeze of lemon, but I don't generally look to it for complexity, intrigue or depth. I have to admit upon tasting this 2007 Broglia Gavi di Gavi "La Meirana" I was really shocked by the burst of complexity, the finesse, elegance and mouthfeel. This isn't a wine with a simple, one-dimensional fruit character, this has pizzazz, sparkle and life. The nose hints of spice, cardamom and nutmeg, and those aromas follow through onto the palate and add structure. There is even a slight tannic grip that gives dimension to the wine. These flavors linger gracefully and turn more complex with the heat of your mouth. The wine has medium weight on the palate and carries through into the finish.
