2007 Phélan-Ségur, St-Estèphe
Fresh berry fruits, light tannins and stalky black currants, sustained by tannins. It is juicy, the wood a mist in the bright fruit flavors. There is some aging potential, maybe 4-5 years.
A medium-bodied red, with spice and berry character, slightly chewy tannins and a medium finish. A little lean now, but should soften and fill out with some bottle age. Best after 2011.
Up front cherry fruit. Superb. At property this wine showed lots of spice. Good weight, though it was a bit harsh at back end. 25% less than normal production this year. 55% cab sauvignon and 45% merlot. At UGC this wine showed quite nicely & plenty of forward fruit.
