Ridge has been making their Three Valleys blend since 2001. It is a blend of mostly zinfandel with small additions of petite sirah, syrah, grenache and carignane sourced from 10 individual Sonoma vineyards. Different than the winery's single vineyard wines, which showcase terroir - the vineyard's winemaking - this blend showcases the craft of winemaking, the deft balancing of aromas, flavors and textures that Ridge does so well. Rich, up front fruit make this wine immediately appealing, but there's plenty of spice and earthy intrigue to keep it evolving over the next five years. From the Wine Enthusiast: "Here's a lusty, exuberantly fruity young wine, with jammy berry-cherry and spice flavors. Mainly Zinfandel, with some Petite Sirah, Carignane and Mataro, it's a rustic sipper meant to wash down meats and cheeses." (08/10)
