Prichard's Double Barreled Bourbon 750ml

SKU #1051758 91 points Whisky Advocate

Many distilleries have released bourbon finished in a second barrel, but itís Prichardís who was savvy enough to copyright the term 'double barreled.' As youíd expect, the nose is big oak, blending darker, more seasoned oak with lighter, new oak. The palate is unexpectedly balanced, with lush, sweet caramel in perfect sync with spicy oak, black pepper, clove, and cinnamon. That wonderful balance follows through to a medium finish that doesnít leave you feeling like youíve been chewing on a barrel. (Fall 2014) (GF)

K&L Notes

The Prichard's Double Barreled Bourbon is a unique example of the innovation coming out of Prichard's Distillery in Tennessee. This ultra rich & smooth bourbon sees multiple new oak casks. First it sits at full proof for 7 years in new charred oak. It is then brought to 92 proof and stored in different new oak casks for another 2-4 years. The result is Benjamin Prichard's Double Barreled Bourbon.

Surprisingly crisp with good flavor for a 92-proof offering.

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.
