SKU #1050297

When it comes to killer value-priced Gruners like this one, more is definitely more. You will find that a liter of this in your fridge goes much much quicker than anticipated! Just what a white wine should be, and nothing more.

Just as the label proclaims, drinking this gruner is "fresh as a slap across the face". Loaded with tons of fresh meyer lemon and lime, this gruner is true to its Austrian roots with just a hint of the classic white pepper spice. But what sets the Etz apart from the liter pack are the notes of peach and stone fruit that reveal themselves on the palate.

This Gruner is simply delicious! It's crisp and clean with vibrant acidity. Nice notes of nectarine and lime. I just can't believe how fast two people can finish a one liter bottle! This is a true value for all the Gruner lovers...

A wonderfully pleasant summer sipper for those very warm and thirsty days. Full of crisp citrus, herbs, fresh summer grass, Meyer lemon, and racy acidity, there is nothing that can refresh you palate more! And a Liter for only $11.99 is a steal! Great for party's too, this is a real crowd pleaser, but don't feel bad if you finish the bottle yourself over a summer day by the pool. It's low alcohol won't give you a headache the next day.

This gets my vote for best party value white in the store. There are loads of crushed melon and grapefruit along with hints of white pepper in this dry, spicy super-value. This fresh, lively white is firm and bracing and amazingly versitile with food.

A very nice white wine to sip while making dinner. Refreshing acidity - but not bone dry, keeps remarkably well in the fridge for several days!
Top Value!

I am such a Gruner fan and with spring right around the corner I cannot wait to toss this into my picnic basket with some killer cheese, baguette, sliced melon wrapped in prosciutto and sip this refreshing simple wine with great acid and a cleansing finish. Not to mention the added bang for the buck in the 1-liter bottle.

Varietal:

Gruner Veltliner

- Grüner Veltliner is the most widely planted grape variety in Austria, making up about a third of all the vineyard land in the country, according to importer extraordinaire Terry Thiese. The varietal has definitely increased in popularity of the past few years, as sommeliers and wine directors loaded their lists with this spicy white because it pairs well with so many things. Its bouquet has been described as floral, tending to toward musky, with hints of peppery greens, lentils, citrus and red fruit with a distinctive mineral quality. In the mouth the wine can be broad or precise, but is almost always distinguished by bracing acidity and flavors that mirror the nose. A notoriously good ager, you can drink GrüVes in their youth, or let them evolve in complexity in your cellar.
Country:

Austria

- Austria is a well-respected wine-growing region in Europe. Yet, even though they make about a third the volume of wine as Germany, not many of these fine bottles make it to the shelves of American wine merchants or restaurants. Lucky for us, their anonymity has translated into incredible value from simple, everyday whites to exquisite dessert wines. Austria shares many grape varieties with Germany—Riesling is king here, too. But the style of Austrian whites is much dryer and more potent. Grüner Veltliner is Austria's second-most-important varietal and makes whites of great versatility and pleasure. Click for a list of bestselling items from Austria.
