90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made primarily from the indigenous variety Callet, it has a unique aromatic profile, although clearly Mediterranean influenced. The wine was aged for 6 months in French oak. Notes of herbs, garrigue, lavender, leather, cherry, and raspberry are quite alluring. This is followed by a friendly, sweetly-fruited wine with no hard edges. It has an elegant personality as well as fine depth and length. Drink it over the next 3-4 years. It is an outstanding value." (08/08) While Mallorca may still be best known as a vacation spot for Spaniards and tourists looking for beaches and sun, we here at K&L would like to remind you that they have some pretty incredible terroir for fine wine production. Produced from 80% Callet (an indigenous Mallorcan grape), Cabernet Sauvignon and Montenegro (also indigenous), the wine is produced by the fourth generation in the Mesquida family. Spicy black fruit aromas as well as some pungent volcanic notes lead to a rustic, deeply pitched wine that is as serious as it is intriguing and tough to pinpoint. Dark fruit and black olive flavors have a salty quality that really grab you and demand your attention. This is serious wine for a meal, either garlic and rosemary studded lamb or perhaps seared tuna over a black olive tapenade.
