2008 Adega Cooperativo Regional de Monçao "Trajarinho" Vinho Verde

SKU #1049976

Classic, dry, fizzy Vinho Verde does not get much better than this! This is one of our current favorites: crisp, citric, relatively low in alcohol and in a classically dry style. Don't let the deliciousness fool you, though; this white offers up a whole lot more complexity than the humble price might suggest. More than likely, one could attribute this amazing quality to two factors: First, the rock solid reputation and focus on quality of the Adega Cooperativo Regional de Monįao; and second, their reliance on Trajadura and Alvarinho grapes, which deliver wine of greater complexity and texture than the Paderņa grape so commonly grown in the rest of the Vinho Verde region.

One of our favorite importers, Luis Moya, has custom-developed this aromatic, dry, ever-quenchable, slightly-effervescent Vinho Verde to lay conquest to those endless summer days when the heat simply refuses to abate. Made from 50% Alvarinho and 50 % Trajadura, this light, zesty wine was fermented in stainless steel and never saw a splinter of oak. Pure, precise flavors of jasmine flowers, tart apples, kiwi and pineapple permeate the palate, demanding fresh seafood and radiant sunshine.

A fun and exotic white wine from Portugal that is crisp, dry, and food friendly. Bright green apple and Asian pear upfront with a zippy mid-palate and super-clean acidity on the finish. Do yourself a favor and let all the flavors open up and settle down for 20minutes or so beforedrinking this wine. It has so much fizzy minerality and great acid that you almost feel a slight effervescence on your palate. So delicious and refreshing it pairs perfectly with a salad of butter-leaf, caramelized pecans, blue cheese crumbles, apple and Champagne vinaigrette!
