A wine with tiny, long-lasting bubbles, De Chanceny's Cremant de Loire Rosé is a lovely gleaming pink, enticing with a delicate, nervy nose and aromas of fresh red fruit. It's lively on the attack and has lovely aromatic intensity and brightness. Well-balanced in the mouth, this sparkler is enhanced by a fresh but subtle finish. The wine is stored for at least 12 months on racks in freestone cellars before disgorging to make incomparably fine bubbles. The fruit comes from 20- to 30-year-old vines.

I love rose, and I love bubbly, so naturally I had to try this bargain bottle from the Loire. And yup, the perfect bottle for a beautiful Spring day. I'm thinking a buttermilk panna cotta with crushed strawberries and a touch of rosewater, would complete this experience.

Bright and fresh, this sparkling wine from the Loire is fantastic. A beautiful, deep pink color is an invitation to the nice bubbly you'll soon be drinking. At first there are subtle juicy berry flavors and then refreshing bubbles followed by a nice dry finish. Very festive!

Without a doubt one of my favorites sparkling rosé wines. Full of citron, wild strawberries, cherries and FUN! I recommend it for an aperitif on Valentine's day, or with the heart shaped box of chocolate!

This is a fun little sparkler for the Holiday season. As a richer style Rosé, it offers up aromas of lemon and orange peel, fresh wild strawberries and ripe raspberry. The palate is dry, but rich with strawberries, cherries, lemon and orange zest…finishing with a touch of toasty oak. And with the vibrant salmon pink color, it is as festive as it is tasty!

This is one really surprising, inexpensive pink bubbly! Rich and bright red fruits with teeny, tiny bubbles. Raspberries, Bing cherries and just a hint of nectarine. Lively, with a nice, fairly long finish. The fruit even comes from 20- to 30-year-old vines. At this price?! Buy it while we have it in stock and just tell Eric (the Loire buyer) to order more!

A beautiful color on this bubbly from the Loire... Citrus-y aromas of lemon peel and orange blossoms infused with berries start you off, with flavors of strawberries and raspberries on the palate. The bubbles started out small and lazy in the glass, but once in my mouth they created a nice creamy layer on my tongue. An easy, balanced, and refreshing sparkler with an easy, balanced and refreshing price tag. We tasted it for our Valentine's webisode- check it out at www.wineexpedition.com.

Cabernet Franc

- While Cabernet Franc, a parent with Sauvignon Blanc to the ubiquitous Cabernet Sauvignon, frequently plays second fiddle in Bordeaux blends (though it does get more props on the Right Bank, where it dominates Cheval Blanc), this lighter, higher acid/lower tannin, early-maturing, perfumed red varietal is far from a wallflower. It is the headliner in the Loire Valley appellations of Saumur-Champigny, Bourgueil, St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Chinon and Anjou-Villages, where it makes exceptional, food-friendly wines. Outside of France, Cabernet Franc can be found in northern Italy, particularly in Friuli and in California where it is frequently used as a blending grape in Bordeaux-style wines. Heartier in the cold than Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc is gaining a foothold in northern and eastern wine regions like Canada, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
