2008 Carballal Albariño "Sete Cepas" Rias Baixas

SKU #1049210

Produced from younger vine estate grapes and purchased fruit, this delicious Albariņo pulls the minerals from the soil and the sea air not far away. Very refreshing with nice bracing acidity, there are hints of exotic fruits as well as stone fruits. A perfect match with warm weather fare as well as being the absolute perfect match with fish and shellfish. 7 Cepas is a playful nod to the fact that there are seven brothers in the family that make this wine.

A mouthwatering wine full of zesty minerality with a luscious finish balanced by great acidity. The is the perfect wine for the white wine enthusiast. It is seriously interesting and food friendly. On the nose there are aromas of melon, pear, and grapefruit, followed by flavors of wet stones and minerals on the mid palate. This can stand up to a variety of fare including lobster risotto, citrus rubbed chicken with mango salsa and spicy tuna tatare over crispy rice.

I was blown away by the 2007 of this wine, so I was slightly apprehensive about tasting the new vintage. Fortunatley, this wine rocks! It has the same extraction of lemon zest, peach pits and zesty minerality. Great range of flavors that I think will continue to improve and come together over the next 6 months to year. It should continue to drink well even longer.

This is the real deal from Rias Biaxas for far cheaper than most Albarino is going nowadays. The minerality really shines and the subtle flavors of fruit and flowers play a supporting roll in balancing out the wine. This is alwaysa great bottle and it is a big part of the new-found popularity of wines from that region.

A delicious, aromatic wine, with floral, pear, and apricot aromas, citrus and minerally flavors, and good acidity.
