95 points Robert Parker: "The incredible 2007 Chardonnay Bee Block is a tour de force in mountain Chardonnay. Honeysuckle, creme brulee, buttered citrus, white peach, and baked apple characteristics emerge from this full-bodied, intense effort. With great acidity as well as fabulous precision and purity, it can be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years." (02/10) The 2007 vintage Chardonnay really showcases the Bee Block as a very special site. Planted to 25-year-old vines on sedimentary rock at 670-735 feet in elevation. Nicely structured, these will age well like the 2005s, with lemony-apple aromas, and a fleshy palate with just a kiss of minerals. One of the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100 Wines of 2009: "Sharply mineral at first take, with deep-roasted lemon and quince. There's a coiled energy to it, with a textural weight and very subtle supporting oak. A rich lime-curd tone broadens out a long, taut finish. Deep, momentous Chardonnay from the talented Varner brothers." (12/09)
