The bouquet is floral, bean-like and pleasantly nutty. The palate entry is acutely astringent; the midpalate is baked nut-like with bitter tastes of oak and molasses. The aftertaste is long, desert-dry, sugary and sap-like. Not as overly woody as many old rums are; delicious in an old-guard style. (2/ 2008)
Only a limited number of bottles of this luxury sipping rum are released each year. A true collector's rum, aged for a minimum of 21 years. Shimmering copper in the glass, it has a mature, nutty, floral nose with accents of vanilla bean, orange zest a dusty cocoa. Long and sappy, it has a strong molasses and roasted nut flavor, finishing with a hint of brown sugar.
