This Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay is a rich, luscious wine with a lovely mouth feel. In this vintage, there are bright tropical flavors of pineapple, pear, and peach with a slight hint of vanilla from oak barrel aging. This vineyard is certified sustainable by Stellar Certification Services. The Wine Spectator writes: "Intense and vibrant, with spicy citrus, mineral and flinty green apple flavors that are pure, focused and juicy, ending with a cleansing finish. Drink now." (11/09)

Rich with a slight touch of oak, yet amazingly packed with an ample amount of acidity that keeps this chardonnay from getting fat and flabby.

Rudolf Steiner left his far-ranging philosophical concepts on generations of innovative, creative winemakers throughout the world, few more so than Mike Benziger, who took to his gestalt of biodynamic farming over two decades ago and has achieved pretty miraculous results. The Sangiacomo Vineyard rests on predominantly loamy soils not far from Sonoma Creek in Carneros, and this wine, while made in a fairly rich, barrel-enhanced style, retains ample minerality, a cavalcade of tropical fruit and good precision throughout. Try this fairly-captivating, well-priced Chardonnay with a mild chicken curry or carrot soup.

Here's another California Chard that I think is lovely and a very well made (and a steal at this price). This is certainly in the richer and fuller camp, but still retains freshness and snap. There is an obvious oak and malolactic quality, but both are far from overdone and the resulting wine is balanced, vibrant and delicious. The Benziger's are a insanely hard working family of farmers (they play hard too; Mike Benziger's tequila drinking prowess is the stuff of legend). They were one of the first wine estates in California to fully embrace biodymanic farming on a large scale, and I don't think their wines have ever been better. CM

If your looking for a truly well made California Chardonnay look no further! This certified organic Chardonnay comes from bio-dynamically farmed vineyards by Benziger and the quality really shows in the glass! Citrus, a bit of toast, and tropical aromas come through on the nose and front palate, followed by a touch of rich honey and nuttiness that intermingles nicely with its minerality and bright acidity. You dont have to spend $30+ to get a Chardonnay that will WoW you and your friends palates anylonger!
