90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Young now, marked by hard tannins that accentuate the acidity,. The flavors are forward and jammy, suggesting blackberries, cherries, orange zest and sweet, smoky cedar wood. Rough-hewn now, with an angular feeling, but should develop softness and roundness after 2012." (03/10) From the winery: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. Patience during bottle aging will reward the “steward” with an outstanding bottle over the next 10 to 15 years." According to Wine Spectator: "Tightly wound, firmly tannic, full-bodied and dense. Chewy and extracted, this is a touch rustic and cedary, but also deep, complex and concentrated. Needs time. Best from 2010 through 2017." (06/09)
