Produced from fruit grown in vineyards at 5,500 feet (yes, you are reading correctly, 5,000-plus feet!) above sea level, this Torrontes is a terrific argument for the superior quality of Torrontes from the northerly Argentine regions of Salta and the Cafayete Valley. On the nose the wine is quite aromatic, with bright yellow fruits and hints of jasmine. Somehow this wine manages to be full-bodied, somewhat viscous and zippy at the same time. There are flavors of tangy yellow plums, with a bit of minerality adding a refreshing, nervy quality . A perfect sipper for the spring and summer grilling season! According to Wine Spectator: "Plump, with tasty grapefruit, tangerine and nectarine flavors that stay fresh on the finish. Drink now." (06/09)
