According to Robert Parker: "The 2004 Opta is 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, and 10% Syrah aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it exhibits a fragrant bouquet of cedar, smoke, pencil lead, and blueberry. This leads to a medium-bodied, flavorful, but slightly compressed wine with enough structure to improve for 3-5 years in the cellar. It will offer satisfaction through 2025 by which time my score will appear conservative." (02/08) This is a whole lot of wine for the money. More structured, savory, and with a bit more toned down fruit than is typical for the region, this would be amazing with a well season New York strip steak (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)
