95 points and the highest rating in the "Year's Best Syrah" from Wine & Spirits Magazine: "Bob Lindquist has made syrah from Purisima Mountain, a biodynamically farmed vineyard, since 2000. The vines here grow in gravelly clay loam soils with small amounts of limestone, making for a potent cocktail of minerality that's noticeable in this wine's sinewy tannins. That structure is never overwhelming; like finely wrought iron, it feels firm and poised, an angular frame that supports the bright cranberry and red apple flavors. There's an energy driving the wine, immediately apparent in the aromas of rose and red peppercorns, and lasting through the cool, supple middle to the vibrant finish. Elegant rather than powerful, this is one of Qupé's most compelling syrahs. It's got a long life ahead." (02/09)
