91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a very rich Chardonnay marked by creamy, leesy, butter and oak notes that give it an exotic sweetness. But it's bone-dry and the underlying fruit is powerful enough to stand up to all that bling. Just delicious pineapple pear marmalade, creme brulee and spice flavors." (04/09) Part of the Rutherford Wine Company, the Scott Family Estate wines are named for winemaker Steve Rued's grandfather. Made entirely from fruit grown on the winery's estate in Monterey's Arroyo Seco appellation - an area known for its sweeping diurnal temperature swings - and an up-and-coming region for Chardonnay. The 2007 Chardonnay makes you want to bust out your tiki torches and suckling pigs for a tropical feast. Aromas of stone fruits, pineapple, papaya and orange blossoms dance with exotic Tahitian vanilla notes, all of which carry over to the palate. Richly textured, the wine glides across the palate gracefully, but boldly, with good acidic lift to keep all the butter and oak in harmony. Try with goat cheese ravioli or miso glazed black bass.
