2008 Elsa Malbec Mendoza

SKU #1044924

The classic Malbec aromas of ripe plum and violets are evident in the nose, with hints of vanilla. The beauty of the Malbec in Argentina is its ability to combine a rich, weighty mouth feel with a soft silkiness normally associated with lighter wines. Elsa Malbec takes the promise of the nose through to the palate, with pleasing fruit that mimics the aroma. The soft, supple palate leads to a lingering finish.

As we head into the holiday party season I am excited to say that the Elsa Malbec will continue to be a great wine for any gathering. The promise of a great Malbec from Argentina, at a super affordable price, comes true with this easy-drinking, delightful red wine. Valentin Bianchi’s 2008 Malbec has a delightful berry-filled nose, with a slight hint of lavender and spice. On the palate the dark berry fruit continues along with a soft, supple texture. I can see this bottle showing up at many family dinners over the next few months!

This is an amazing wine, particularly if you take price into consideration. Medium-deep ruby in color, the nose is bright and flashy with distinctive plum and white pepper spiciness. In the mouth, you will be treated to a Malbec that is nicely balanced, offers excellent viscousity and structure, and has well-integrated tanins with a long, satisfying finish.

This is a hugely popular Argentinian malbec that is unbelievably priced. Lush, with ripe cherries, red plums and raspberries, this little wine is absolutely perfect for everyday and is great with barbecue. The convenient screw cap means that you won't have to have your wine opener at hand. Practically paradise!

Yummy. Well-balanced combination of smoothness and spice. Long finish.

Additional Information:

Varietal:

Malbec

- Red grape variety originally made popular in Bordeaux, where it is still found in some blends. This grape has declined in popularity in many regions because of its susceptibility to downy mildew, rot and frost bite. It seems to have found a good home in the drier Argentina and Chile. It can also be found in some California Meritage and a blending agent. Here is a list of our bestselling Malbec.
Country:

Argentina

- Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally. The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. And Malbec, among other Bordeaux varietals grown here, reigns supreme.
