Armand de Brignac "Ace of Spades" Brut Champagne (1.5L)

SKU #1044403 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Light gold. Musky orchard and pit fruit aromas are brightened by hints of lemon zest and ginger. Ripe pear and honey flavors show a touch of heat and pick up a toasty quality with aeration. Finishes soft, warm and slightly loose, with a hint of bitter peach pit, echoing toastiness and decent length. (12/ 2013)

Wine & Spirits

A broad, rich Champagne with mild flavors of oats and baked apple, this wine's red fruit adds depth, as does the graham cracker sweetness of oak. Pale and warm, this is suited to roast veal. (12/ 2010)

K&L Notes

This is the highly sought-after ultra-luxury cuvee made by Cattier. It is packaged in a gold bottle with a pewter card spade with an "A" on it instead of a label, giving rise to the nickname "ace of spades." It is a favorite of many musicians and has been popping up in celebrity circles and even in videos. Take your cue from Jay-Z and pop open a bottle of this bubbly, made exclusively from Montagne de Reims fruit. It is a blend of 33% Pinot Noir, 33% Meunier and 33% Chardonnay. Like almost all Champagne, this wine has relatively low alcohol, 12.5%. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
