You probably know by now, I LOVE the esoteric, unusual, way off the beaten path wines. And what could more represent all of that than a wine called “Irouleguy?" I love it!
This hails from the Basque country where it is drunk with strong, peppery foods. Lots of bell peppers, onions, olives, anchovies, Pipérade, Bacalao, Bayonne Ham and a variety of tapas with all of the above. I know we don’t eat like this all the time in LA, but I am sure we can be a little creative and make something deliciously flavored to have with this Irouleguy. Deep red and intense, it reminds me of pomegranate concentrate, full of polyphenols (Basque people are known for their longevity). Come on, walk on the wild side…
