Value from Pomerol! We loved this wine when we were with Dominique Robin and daughter, Pauline, in Bordeaux in April 2008. It was lush and sweet with tons of spice on the nose and palate. Very elegant, andit will cellar well for 10 years. The château is situated west of the town of Pomerol, close the main Libourne to Pòigueux road. The Vineyard: 100% merlot planted on sandy gravel soil. Vinification: The wine of Châteu Le Castelet isvinified in stainless steel vats with a fairly long fermentation period before being aged in 100% new Lerrain oak barrels. They take on a marked oak character which, married to the roundness of the merlot, produces a very distinctive style of wine, extremely agreeable almost from bottling. Château Le Castelet is very well balanced with a nice ruby color, a fine fruity taste in the mouth with a persistent finish. Good with dishes with sauces, game, grilled red meat, cheeses.
